Meditation is result of concentration. Concentration is followed by relaxation always. The relaxation earned because of meditation helps to maintain the metabolism, lowers the high blood pressure, improve the heart rate and minimize the number of thoughts in the mind.

When thoughts minimized waves of brain become stable. So meditation helps one to take control of his/her mind. Insomnia is easily controlled by simple meditation techniques.

If you are suffering from depression meditation can yield best results for you. Meditation gives direction to your thoughts. It removes the negative thoughts. On regular practice meditation has power to remove the negative mental patterns in the brain.

If you are a student then meditation helps you improve your memory. Meditation helps you to improve your concentration. Meditation helps to keep you completely relaxed even in your exam days. It relaxes the tired minds. It gives strength to the weak minds. It enhance the level of your awareness. Its regular practice beautify you.

How to Improve the Memory Power




Definition of concentration in Chemistry is the abundance of a constituent divided by the total volume of a mixture. Main constituent is called as solute and this solute is dissolved in a solvent to form a solution.

My area of concern is meditation. Concentration is pre-condition for meditation. Here solute is that single thought which need to be increased. More solute means more concentration. Here more solute means more focus on a single thought. More concentration means more relaxation. This is very beautiful thing that concentration always comes with relaxation. Relaxation is guaranteed with concentration.

Concentration helps one in so many ways. Concentration help us to see the things in a better way. It’s develop a wider attention span. It improve the memory. Concentration assist us in study and understanding. This helps us to focus on our study or on our task.

Meditation is the most effective way to improve your concentration. To watch yours thought another best way of improving your concentration. For this first you must be aware of your normal breath. Be just a witness of your breath and keep watching that how breath is coming out and how breathing is going in. Just be aware of this natural process. Do not try to take breath. Just be witness of it. You will see you are relaxed. This relaxation is because of concentration you earned from the process.   

You can practice tratak to improve the concentration. Tratak on fire flame yields best results. Tratak can you two things simultaneously. First it pure the mind and it concentrate the mind.  

Music is also a best method to increase the amount of concentration. When you start listening a music concentrate on a single instrument playing in that music or song. For example if you are listening a song you can concentrate on single instrument; say Tabla’. Keep your entire awareness on ‘tabla’. You will see you are relaxed. This because of concentration you earned.

When concentration is improved and its amount increased remarkably it covert into the happiness. Happiness is a state of mind and it directly related to concentration of the mind.

One more method to improve the concentration is deep breathing. First be aware of your normal breath and then start deep breathing. Inhale the ample amount of oxygen and prana urja (vital energy) and retain it then exhale it. Practice it 10 times. Do it very slowly and calmly. You will see that you are relaxed. You are relaxed again because of concentration you developed from the deep breathing exercise.

Many studies has been conducted to look at the efficiency of meditation on physical health and mental health. Meditation is the most effective means for helping the hypertension has been referred by the US National Institute of Health.
Meditation reduces stress level. Activity of adrenal gland reduces by relaxation of mind.  

Mediation calm one’s mind. In the process of meditation we focus on a one single thought. Focusing the mind on a single thought creates relaxation. But is not the goal of the meditation technique. Goal of meditation technique is Self-Realization.
General meaning of Self-Realization is to be aware of true energies behind this world and behind the formless reality behind different forms.

Mediation have tremendous powers. It can activate the parts of our brain responsible for involuntary bodily functions like high blood pressure, migraine, stress, muscular tensions and others.

Meditation produces relaxation and this relaxation can change the chemistry of our body to its natural state as discovered by - The Harvard Medical School.

Human mind generally dwells in past or in future. This is the main problem of the human mind. Meditation has power to bring the human mind into the present moment of the life. This helps us to enjoy the life more accurately.

Mediation help us to control the emotions as it helps one to be focus at the one single thought. This leads to immediate relaxation less anxiety state. Meditation helps one to manage the anger. Anger affects the function of the frontal lobe of our brain.

Anger shut down the functionality of the frontal lobe which in-turn produces communication problem and increase the stress level.

Blood Cholesterol is becoming a major problem in human life. Most of the heart diseases are result of this blood cholesterol. When we are in stress the adrenal gland start producing cortisol. This steroid hormone become excess in our body which destroy the body cells. These destroyed cells are automatically patched up with the cholesterol. So higher the stress more steroid hormones will released. Meditation naturally reduced the stress and hence helps to maintain the level of hormones in the body.

People falls in different addiction in this modern world. Many of us get addict of alcohol, tobacco, drugs. Meditation helps one to come out of addiction. Will power gained through the meditation helps one to fight against the addiction.

How to Meditate – Step by Step



Requirements

A separate room or a separate space in any corner in your home.
Meditation Cushion or Any piece of thick cloth.

Procedure

Sit in any comfortable position. Any comfortable asana you can take. You can also sit on chair.

Spinal Cord should be straight.

Head, Chest Should be perpendicular to the ground.

Start chanting aum () or any other mantra of your choice. Do it for 5 minutes.



Start Mediation 

Now gently close your eyes. Take the charge of your thoughts for some time.
Visualize a mountain full of greenery. Visualize it for 1 minute.
Visualize black clouds in sky. Visualize it for 1 minute.   
Visualize birds flying in the sky. Visualize it for 1 minute.
Visualize an aircraft in the sky. Visualize it for 1 minute.
Visualize full moon in the sky. Visualize it for 1 minute.
Visualize full moon in a blue water lake. Visualize it for 1 minute.
Visualize a river full of blue water. Visualize it for 1 minute.
Visualize a water fall. Visualize it for 1 minute.
Visualize flame of fire on candle. Visualize it for 1 minute.
Visualize a peacock in a park. Visualize it for 1 minute.

Now place your awareness at the point between two eyes. Do it for 5-10 minutes.

Now we have to be externalized. Be aware of the outer sounds. Rub your hands and place tips of your hand on your eyes gently. Gently open your eyes.

Say Prayer in your own words.

Your meditation is finished now.

Project – How to learn Tratak in simple steps?

Apparatus Required –

Preparation

  1. Sit in any comfortable position on meditation cushion. You can use simple blanket or heavy cotton bed sheet as meditation cushion.
  2. Keep Candle or Oil Lamp on stand. Level of flame should be at the level of your eyes. Distance between eyes and fire flame is about 2 feet.
  3. Lit the candle or oil lamp
  4. Adjust the flame with the forceps
  5. Practice Nadi Shodhan Pranyaam for 5 minute
  6. Practice Bharamari Pranyaam for 2 minutes




Procedure –

  1. Start Gazing at Fire Flame until tears comes out.
  2. Now close your eyes and start watching point between two eyes with closed eyes.
  3. Watch time with close eyes should be not less than 5 minutes
  4. After 5 minutes again open the eyes and start gazing at the fire flame again.
  5. Repeat the Step number 1 and 2 again and again



Results –

  1. Thoughts will be settled down after 10 minutes
  2. Negative of the image of the flame will appear on point between two eyes. You will watch the flame’s negative with close eyes.
  3. Color of this image will be bright yellow or orange in first phase.
  4. This image will start moving up and down or right and left.
  5. When this image appears its intensity will be high and by time this image will be faded out.
  6. You have to watch until it disappear completely.  
  7. After some time this image will become stationary.
  8. When it became stationary frequency of thoughts will fall down. Concentration with relaxation will appears in the mind.
  9. After some time this flame will start changing its colors.  


Precautions

  1. Age limits 12 years – 70 Years
  2. There should be complete dark in the room.
  3. Noise free place
  4. Adjust the shape of the flame with the help of forceps
  5. One window must me opened during the practice as there may produces CO and CO2 from the candle flame or Oil lamp flame.
  6. If you are using Oil Lamp, use oil of high smoking point. Sesame Oil has high smoking point.
  7.  Do not gaze more if you face any irritation in your eyes. In this condition do not wait for tears to come. Just gaze as your eyes allow.
  8. Start with 15 minutes practice only.
  9. End with meditation and prayer.

Level of our Awareness


Types of Mind



What is in your awareness in conscious and what is not in your awareness is not conscious mind. You are awake it means you are completely aware of  all things around you. We are always aware to the same extent whether for outside or inside of us.

Did you ever think that why you keep the animal. Because you want to be more aware of the outer world. For example Dog, Dog is more aware of the outside than to human beings. He can see beyond we see, he can smell things beyond our smelling capabilities.

 But outer awareness is not our concern actually. It is required and must be required to know the out world around us. But our main concern is development of inner awareness, inner consciousness.

How many of you right now are aware of yourselves and to what contents. Are you aware of what is happening in your mind or you become victim of thoughts? We have to deepen this awareness, this consciousness.

I am here or I am alive or I am spending my life or I am 30 years old this is my awareness. If this awareness disappears everything I am talking about would disappear. If my awareness disappears I will disappear too.

But our awareness in very minimum right now. We have to extend it to know more and more behind the worldly scenes, to understand the reality behind the universe.

Our whole awareness in struck within the mental impressions or mental patterns available in our subconscious mind and unconscious mind. We have to separate our awareness from our impressions and the moment we will separate ourselves from the mental impressions our consciousness will be released to us tremendously.

That is why meditation is necessary because with meditation we could be able to release this awareness.
