Know
Different Brain Waves First
It is important to know that human brain is all times engaged
to emit 5 types of wave’s patterns. These patterns commonly known as brain
waves. The brain waves can be observed with an EEG (or an
“electroencephalograph”) – a tool that allows researchers to note brain wave
patterns. Each brain wave has a purpose and helps serve us in optimal mental
functioning
In this article, we’ll be looking at five brainwave
frequencies and how they affect our state of mind.
These waves are: - 1.Beta, 2.Alpha, 3.Theta,
4.Delta and 5. Gamma.
Beta waves (14-40Hz) - Beta brain waves are associated with
normal waking stage or consciousness and a heightened state of alertness, logic
and critical reasoning.
Alpha waves (7.5-14Hz) – Alpha waves are deep relaxation waves
and usually present when your eyes are closed and you are enjoying with the
inner scenes playing on your mental screen.
It is the gateway to your subconscious mind and lies
at the base of your conscious awareness. It heightens your imagination,
visualization, memory, learning and concentration.
Theta waves (4-7.5 Hz) - Theta brain waves are present during
deep meditation and light sleep. It is said that a sense of deep spiritual
connection and unity with the universe can be experienced at Theta.
Unlike your other brain waves, the elusive voice of
Theta is a silent voice. It is at the Alpha-Theta border, from 7Hz to 8Hz,
where the optimal range for visualization, mind programming and using the
creative power of your mind begins. It’s the mental state which you consciously
create your reality. At this frequency, you are conscious of your surroundings
however your body is in deep relaxation.
Delta waves (0.5-4 Hz) – Delta waves are deep sleep waves and is
the slowest of the frequencies and is experienced in deep, dreamless sleep.
Gamma waves – (above 40Hz) – These are known as
insight waves. This range is the most recently discovered and is the fastest
frequency at above 40Hz. While little is known about this state of mind,
initial research shows Gamma waves are associated with bursts of insight and
high-level information processing.
Why alpha
waves?
Except Beta and Delta rest of the waves is phenomenon
of deep sleep. Although some Indian yogi like Swami Rama are exceptional as
they had produces theta and delta waves during their waking stage.
But today my concern is Alpha waves. Because Alpha
waves helps us calm down when necessary and promote feelings of deep
relaxation. If we become stressed, a phenomenon is called “alpha blocking” may
occur which involves excessive beta activity and very little alpha. Essentially
the beta waves “block” out the production of alpha because we become too
aroused.
Beta waves mean too many activities and it induces
severe stress some times and that severe stress may cause some fatal changes in
our body.
So in our routine activities we must know the art to
remove the beta waves and place the Alpha waves accordingly.
How to induce Alpha Waves within your Brain?
First – If you close your eyes and remain with the closed eyes for five
minutes, your brainwave will be changed. They will become alpha waves.
Second – Close your eyes gently without any stress. Keep close for a while and
now open it again gently. Now close your eyes very slowly, very slowly as
slowly as you can. Feel that your eyes are very heavy eye lids and you need to
put a heavy force to close or open it. Take your time to close them and keep
close them for some moments and now again start open the heavy lids of your
eyes. This will again take you to alpha waves.
Third - Close your eyes and take your attention to your closed lips. Move
your awareness from one side to another on the line of contact between two
lips. Does it full attention and awareness moves your awareness again and again
between the two lips. This will immediately take you in the alpha state of your
brain.
Conclusion – We can take advantage of alpha brain waves in this
highly stressful life. While in office or in college or in any business
activity we get relaxed technically by inducing alpha waves pattern in our
brain. This will be gives us quick relaxation and also save us from chronic diseases too.
