Psycho-acoustics is the study of the perception of
sound. This includes how we listen, our psychological responses, and the
physiological impact of music and sound upon the human nervous system.
Biophysicist Dr. Gerald Oster showed that when a tone
is played in one ear and a slightly different tone is played in the other ear,
the difference causes the brain to create a third, internal tone, called a
binaural beat. The theory is that this syncs the brain waves in both
hemispheres, a process dubbed “brain-wave entrainment”.
Now what are the benefits of brain wave entrainment? Depending
upon the type of frequency being used in the sound wave four state of mind can
be achieved, these are:-
Name
|
Frequency
Range
|
Benefits
|
Delta
|
1-3 Hz.
|
Deep sleep, lucid
dreaming, increased immune functions
|
Theta
|
4-7 Hz.
|
Deep relaxation,
meditation, increased memory, focus
|
Alpha
|
8-12 Hz.
|
Light relaxation,
“super learning”, positive thinking
|
Beta
|
13-25 Hz.
|
Normal state of
alertness, stress, anxiety
|
Carol Moore, of Monroe Products, says, “When the brain
is in synchronicity, there’s focus more. Our sleep titles help drop you into
the deep delta waves. Electrical activity in the brain gets slowed down”
When one experiences and went through the above first
three state of relaxation there is great possibility of vanishing physical or
mental diseases. But this is a bye product only. Main product is extreme stage
of relaxation and beyond sense experience.
My today concern is to represent mantras from Hinduism
have capacity to bring even more than what said above. I would like to mention
here some researches on Gayatri Mantra. Gayatri Mantra is the ‘Best Divine
Prayer’ Hymn in the World - Dr. Howard Steingeril, American Scientist.
Dr. Howard Steingeril, an American Scientist,
collected Mantras, Hymns and Invocations from from all different religions of
the world and tested their strength in his physiology laboratory. He concluded
that the Hindu Vedic Gayatri Mantra is the most rewarding
scientifically. That the Gayatri Mantra produced 110,000 sound waves per
second. This was the highest, and found it to be the most powerful prayer hymn
in the world. The combination of sound and variation in the sound waves and its
particular frequency is capable of developing specific spiritual
potentialities.
Every word of this great mantra has capacity to
produce specific types of brain waves which would be best suited to one’s
spiritual and physical growth. So, Gaytari Mantra and others mantras too have
capacity to produce different brain waves in the brain.
The Hamburg University initiated this research into
the efficacy of the Gayatri Mantra both on the mental and physical plane of
creation. Continuous repetition of Gayatri Mantra creates a magnetic charge to
link the mind with supernatural power currents.
Surprising fact is that - The Gayatri Mantra is now being broadcast daily for
15 minutes from 7 P.M. onwards over Radio Paramaribo, Surinam for the past four
years, and also in Amsterdam, Holland for the past 3 years. But we at India
are not much aware about this research work and its practical implementation.
When this mantra is chanted in rhythmic tone with ups
and downs, they create a melodious effect in the two hemispheres of the brain
in human body. This effect can be defined as the Neuro-linguistic effect. Another
great thing is that the “Neuro- Linguistic” effect will be possible even if you
do not know the meaning of the mantra. Hence knowing the meaning of every
mantra is not compulsory. What does it mean? – It means that each word of
the mantra has been psycho acoustically designed to produce sound of such
frequency that suited for desired brain wave results.
Listening Gayatri mantras directly lowers blood pressure,
normalizes heart beat rate, brain wave pattern, adrenalin level, even
cholesterol level.
I have already explained this fact in my previous
article, Sound – The Medicine of the Future. http://yogamylifeblog.blogspot.in/2017/01/sound-medicine-of-future.html
